Mixed-Use Development, London
Fatade was appointed to deliver the Energy Strategy, Overheating Assessment, and Daylight, Sunlight, and Overshadowing Assessment for a 19-storey mixed-use development in London, comprising 165 residential units and ground-floor commercial space.
The project successfully secured planning consent by achieving net-zero operational carbon emissions. In line with the energy hierarchy, Fatade prioritised demand reduction and energy efficiency measures before integrating low-carbon technologies, supporting the client’s sustainability ambitions and local policy requirements.
Using ApacheSim Dynamic Simulation Modelling (DSM), we carried out in-depth thermal modelling to evaluate overheating risk and ensure long-term thermal comfort for occupants. The strategy informed key design decisions relating to glazing performance, ventilation strategies, and solar control.
Our Daylight, Sunlight, and Overshadowing Assessment assessed the development’s impact on internal living spaces and its surrounding urban context, including neighbouring properties and public realm areas, ensuring compliance with planning guidance and enhancing the overall quality of the built environment.
Fatade’s integrated and performance-led approach enabled the delivery of a future-ready, low-carbon development that balances environmental responsibility with resident wellbeing.
